Why Stability Ball Training

Another product mainly used in the primary physical therapy market that was introduce to the fitness club market in the 90’s and has become a household name since. Today the Stability balls are an essential piece of equipment used in fitness clubs, at home, and by physical therapists. The versatile nature of the training is designed to improve balance, body awareness, coordination and posture. It is also a good way to add spice to your workout. The Stability Ball is a great tool for incorporating, core strength, endurance, balance and coordination to any routine. The stability balls are available in a variety of different sizes that correspond to the individual height. Here is a general guideline based on height and the dimension of the stability ball.

  • 75 cm (6' 2" - 6' 8")

  • The benefits can be enormous and the enjoyment of trying something new is exciting. When starting using stability ball training you should always consult with your physician before starting any new exercise program. All stability ball training should always be under a certified trainer. No weight bearing items should be used unless used under direct certified supervision.


    Benefits of Stability Training

    Due to the balls versatile and when used correctly, the body is required to utilize various muscles for stabilization challenging the muscles that previously was not challenged using traditional exercise equipment. This will give you maximize results. By trying to maintain proper alignment on the ball it will stimulate the body’s natural motor reflexes and encourages the body to react as a whole.     In summary, using an exercise ball during your fitness routine may improve core alignment and muscle strength, flexibility and coordination. Strong core muscles also help maintain good posture.
